One of the many pleasures of spending any time at Chambers Street Wines (as a customer or staff member) is falling in love with wines on release and then rediscovering the wines years later when they appear in a cellar offer. "Why hello Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Spätlese! Great to see you, old friend!" These moments of frisson enliven what we do and we're proud to be able to share them with you. And while you're perusing today's list, please stop by the German, Austrian, and Alsatian sections of our website and perhaps discover some new old favorites. Happy hunting and happy holidays. Dönnhoff 2010 Nahe Kreuznacher Krotenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett
Krötenpfuhl is on a south-facing slope overlooking the Nahe and has warm clay and loess soils with many heat-retaining pebbles and small stones. This is one of the most intense Kabinetts I've had the pleasure to taste, with acid like a laser and the fruit showing itself as just about the perfect essence of fresh green apple. Vividly alive and expressive. -jfr
