Château de Manissy 2019 Côtes du Rhône "Oracle"
The very talented Florian André at Chateau de Manissy makes this delicious Côtes d Rhône from Grenache, Carignan and Counoise in organic/Biodynamic farming on sandy, brown clay/limestone soils. "The wine shows a shiny dark red, purple tints; the bouquet charms thanks to its sunny curve of aroma that mixes dried herbs with blackcurrant fruit, all neatly presented. There’s a little smokiness. The fruit purity stands out on the palate, the blueberry fruit with notes of tar-tannin, licorice accompanying it as it runs with calm continuity. This is bang on the money Côtes red, a pleasure to drink with its keen clarity, the length in shape to allow red meats into the dining equation. The freshness contributed by the Counoise is very helpful." (DrinkRhone) This is a superb everyday red at a crazy price!

(Arrives 12/13) In 2020, Thomas Finot made this refreshing "tractor white" from 60% Jacquere, 30% Verdesse and 10% Chardonnay grown in the Coteaux Grésivaudan, northeast of Grenoble. This is a delightful everyday wine, featuring lovely aromas of green apple, quince, melon, almond, hay and brown spice. Domaine des Costes 2018 Pécharmant Cuvée Tradition
Purchased by the Dournel family in 1992, the Domaine des Costes in Pécharmant has been certified organic since 2007. Pécharmant is a small high-quality AOC within Bergerac, seldom seen in the US, benefiting from hillside vineyards of gravel over iron-rich clay. The wines are made from Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon - well-structured with dense fruit, the older vine cuvées age beautifully, and wine from younger vines such as the 2018 "Tradition" are full-bodied and quite delicious for drinking over 5 to 8 years. The 2018 is an earthy red/garnet color, with intriguing aromas of black raspberry, cassis, earth, roast meat and spice. The palate is dense and richly textured with deep red currant and cassis fruit, with tobacco and earth with a very firm mineral presence on the tongue and a very long finish of red currant, minerals and firm acidity. All this for $15.99! Bravo to the Dournel family for this beautiful big little wine... David Lillie
Costes (Domaine des) 2019 Bergerac Rosé
A Rosé in winter? Of course says Eric Asimov of the NY Times - and we wholeheartedly agree, especially this delicious Cabernet from Domaine des Costes in Pecharmant/Bergerac. Costes is an old French term for hillsides or slopes, which is very fitting for this hillside vineyard located in Bergerac. The soil is a favorable combination of stone, sandy clay, and rolled gravel over limestone, that suits the primarily Cabernet Franc vines grown on the Domaine des Costes Estate. Nicole and Jean-Luc Dournel took over the estate in 1992, overseeing the vineyard through its organic certification and biodynamic practices. Made from Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, this food friendly direct-press rosé is harvested by hand and ferments with wild yeasts. The wine shows fresh red berries on the nose followed by wild strawberries, red currant, and a subtle, peppery finish on the palate. Serve chilled and enjoy as an aperitif or with lighter meals all year!
Les Fouques 2020 Côtes de Provence Cuvée l'Aubigue Rosé
The Cuvée "L'Aubigue" is a beautifully supple and fruit-driven rosé made from 48% Cinsault, 34% Grenache, 11% Syrah, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Vermentino. The wine shows a beautiful salmon color and offers complex aromas of peach skins, wild flowers, brown spice, and grapefruit pith. The palate is round and refreshing with a dense mineral core. Flavors of peach, strawberry, and nectarine coalesce over cool herbal notes akin to licorice. The finish is suave and awash with citrus and stone. A wonderfully versatile wine, this is lovely to sip by itself and will be a seriously delicious pairing with salads, full-flavored fish dishes, chicken and grilled pork all summer and all year...

Pajot, Domaine de 2020 VDP des Côtes de Gascogne Les Quatre Cépages
This is a beloved staple at Chambers Street! Domaine de Pajot is located in Southwest France overlooking the capital of Armagnac, a region more well known for their brandy than table wines. The entire estate is certified organic, grown over rolling hills of mostly sand and fine silt soils, vines interspersed with hazelnut trees. 'Les Quatre Cépages' is a blend of 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Colombard, 20% Ugni-Blanc, 10% Gros-Manseng . Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this wine is dry, crisp, and well balanced. Pajot is our go-to pick for your event, pleasing everyone at a moderate price, or for enjoying at home as an aperitif or with fish and chicken dishes.
Lambert, Patrick 2019 Chinon Les Deuzelles
The wines of Patrick Lambert have been a staple in our shop for some time now. His wines are classic, expressive, and made exclusively from his organically farmed estate. The 'Deuzelles' is selected from his ~25 year old vines planted on gravel, clay with silex, and sandy soils. The juice is fermented in concrete vats for 15-18 days, then aged in old barriques for 3 to 6 months. This is one of the best values I can find for excellent Cabernet Franc. This bottling is denser and more concentrated than the 'Gourmandises' but just as pleasurable and easy-drinking. The nose has notes of blackberry and raspberry bramble, freshly turned soil, and savory herbs, and the on the palate the wine is juicy with supple tannins. This was lovely when I tasted it on day one, and even better on day two, so if you have the time, give this some air before you enjoy! Michelle DeWyngaert
Lambert, Patrick 2020 Chinon Gourmandise
"Gourmandise" is a beautiful "drink young" cuvée from Patrick Lambert, made from Cabernet Franc vines grown on sandy gravel soils near the Vienne. The wine shows a bright black/red color with lush high-toned aromas of crushed strawberry and black raspberry, with hints of citrus and pepper. The palate is supple and bright with luscious black raspberry and red currant fruit, quite lush and full-bodied in this superb vintage for the Loire but still with refreshing acidity. Serve this lovely wine quite cool with charcuterie and grilled chicken, pork or burgers, it's a perfect quaffing Cab Franc to drink over the next year or two... David Lillie
Guion 2019 Bourgueil Cuvée Domaine
The World's Best Value in Cabernet Franc is back! - This is another beautiful wine from the shy and affable Stéphane Guion who is quietly making some of the best wines in Bourgueil. His 2019 Cuvèe Domaine is from not-so-young (15 to 40 year-old) vines, mostly on clay/limestone terroir in Benais and is equal to the superb 2018 with perhaps a bit more brightness to the fruit. The wine shows a vibrant black/red color and lush aromas of raspberry and blackberry confit, dark chocolate and violets - very deep and ripe but still bright with earthy hints as well. The palate is medium-bodied and very fresh with firm acidity and chalky, saline mineral flavors framing the very ripe, chalky red and black fruits, which continue in the long sappy finish. Drink now, served cool, with grilled chicken and pork, charcuterie, green vegetables and mild cheeses, or hold 5 to 8 years for a velvety mature experience. This is a beautiful wine and a sensational value! David Lillie
(Tasted in August 2021, this beautiful wine has softened considerably and is showing lovely berry fruits - peak drinking summer of 2022 and beyond.) The 2018 Bourgueils of Stéphane Guion, tasted in early February 2019, are just extraordinary, with an extra layer of vibrant fruit, beginning with this gorgeous rosé. 50 years of organic farming and great traditional winemaking give this refreshing wine its perfect balance with beautiful fruit and great earthy expression of the gravel and limestone/clay terroir. The wine shows lush strawberry/raspberry aromas with citrus, rose and earth. Raspberry, blood orange, melon and earthy flavors on the ripe but dry palate which is framed in firm acidity and saline minerals. This is a real rosé of terroir, and for lovers of Cabernet Franc it's one of the greatest values around - drinking beautifully now and through 2022, with burgers, roast chicken, grilled pork and charcuterie. David Lillie
Finca Torremilanos 2019 Ribera del Duero Montecastrillo Tinto
This 100% Tempranillo wine from Ribera del Duero is a fantastic value from Demeter certified Biodynamic vineyards. Coming from vines aged between 10- and 20-years-old, the wine is aged 80% in stainless steel and 20% in oak. This is a classic, fuller-bodied expression of warm climate Tempranillo: dark fruit, earth, a bit of leather and medium tannins are in balance with freshness and some herbal character. A great wine for a party of with steak or lamb.
Stadlmann 2018 Thermenregion Zierfandler Anning
Zierfandler is one of 2 main white grapes of the Thermenregion 20 minutes south of Vienna. Dating back to the Habsburg empire, it was a favorite of the emperors and court. For lovers of dry rieslings, kerner and dry chenins with explosive aromas of lime, wet rocks, fresh herbs and meadow flowers. The palate is zingy with intense flavors of lime, pear, herbaceousness and chalky minerality with a medium body and zesty acidity. Whole cluster pressed, spontaneous fermentation in large wood tanks and four months on the lees lend a certain velvety creaminess. An absolute delight and eminently pairable with a wide variety of fish, vegetable, greens and cheeses. Priced to move! Giselle Hamburg
Viña Zorzal 2019 Navarra Graciano
Zorzal takes the Graciano grape to new heights with this inexpensive but outrageously delicious 35-year-old, organically-farmed vines in Spain's Navarra region (Rioja's overlooked neighbor). This is a generous, crowd-pleasing, and thirst-quenching red on the fuller side of medium-bodied. It is pretty and perfumed, with flavors of juicy purple plum, ripe red raspberry, and dark cherry, violet flowers, soft funky earth, spearmint leaf, cinnamon spice, smooth tannins, rich texture, and just enough acidity. Unfined, unfiltered, and fermented with native yeasts.
Bohigas 2020 Catalunya Xarel-lo
The Bohigas family are long-time farmers and winemakers in Catalunya, farming organically and producing sparkling and still wines from the local grape varieties . This still white wine is a great, affordable introduction to one of the most interesting white varieties in Spain: Xarel-lo. Xarel-lo is the most important white grape in the production of Cava and other sparkling wines in Catalunya, and a great grape variety for producing crisp and mineral still wines. The grapes for this wine were harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel before bottling: it is bright, crisp and mineral with notes of salty stone and citrus. A new daily drinker, perfect for lighter food or just drinking on its own.
Il Fortunato 2017 Rosato Vino Spumante Extra Dry (Organic, low SO2)
Il Fortunato aced it with their Rosato Spumante; another lively sparkler produced from organic vineyards with only a minimal addition of sulfur. The nose is playful with a mix of bright berry fruits and fresh red cherries cut by tart apple skins. On the palate, a delicate mousse lifts the wine showing some weight, great acidity, and just touch of ripeness. Absolutely lovely! Pair with charcuterie, simple pasta, or simply drink on its own. Perfect for your Big Event this spring or summer..!
Cantina del Lupo 2020 Piemonte Grignolino "Grignole"
Very engaging on the nose, like uncovering a bowl of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries while a breeze of light flowers and green grass stirs on a summer afternoon. Really, if the aromatics of this wine don't put a smile on your face, I don't know what will. The color is a translucent rhubarb hue. On the palate, there is vibrant acidity and only a minuscule tannic touch. The fruit on the tongue has more of an edge than it does on the nose, with tangy red cherry and crisp red apple. Edgy but deliciously fresh. David Hatzopoulos
Filipa Pato NV Bairrada Brut Rose "3B" Sparkling
Bairrada, with its cooler maritime climate, has a long history of producing fresh and distinctive sparkling wines of quality from the native grapes of the region. Filipa Pato admirably keeps the tradition alive with her delicious and unpretentious brut rosé made from a blend of Bairrada’s signature noble red variety Baga and the tangy high acid white grape, Bical. Spicy and zesty with notes of bright citrus and red berries, this is a great (and affordable!) pairing for baked fish with paprika and Iberian olive oil, smoked fish or a party with a variety of hors d'oeuvres...
