López de Heredia 1994 Rioja Gran Reserva Tondonia
75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, and 10% Mazuelo and Graciano, aged 9 years in barrel and 9 years in bottle. Sweet, pretty aromas of balsamic, raspberries, coriander and crunchy leaves. Complex and well-structured on the palate with bright red cherry, chewy cranberry skins, woodsy thyme, thorny rose, clove spice, and crunchy leaves that remind us this fresh Rioja has some age. At the same time, its bright acidity and taut tannins alert us to many great years ahead! -Ariana Rolich
Corison, Cathy 2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
This is a fantastically complex 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with lots of stuffing from a nearly perfect vintage. The wine is produced by Cathy Corison, a wine-maker known for long-lived, classically structured Napa Valley wines that emphasize the gravelly-loam soils of the Valley. cb
Donkey and Goat 2010 McDowell Valley Rose Isabel's Cuvée Grenache
We only got 4 cases this year! For god sakes make more wine! Don't be scared of the tartrates. This rose is alive and well... awesome.
Stony Hill 2006 Napa Valley Chardonnay
According to some experts, this is America's greatest white wine estate. Their Chardonnay is from high above the valley floor on the slopes of Spring Mountain. This wine has never been acidulated in its 50 year plus history. It does not go through malolactic fermentation. There is no new oak. This is California Chardonnay made in the style of a Chablis and we are proud to be able to offer one of America's greatest wines, bar none. -jbt
Westrey 2008 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir Reserve
Westrey's Pinot Noir Reserve is from their best estate fruit. It shows a lifting perfume quality with dark sappy fruits, cedar and cola tones. The palate is energetic, layered, and weighty without losing its sense of balance. There is just a touch of wood showing (one quarter of it is new). All in all this is an excellent Oregon Pinot with a great deal of complexity and substance. cb
López de Heredia 2000 Rioja Gran Reserva Tondonia Rosato
Lopez de Heredia Rosado is a Spanish national treasure. It is the only wine of its kind, having 10 plus years of aging in barrel and bottle. This vintage is great, with notes of cranberry, hazelnut, and citrus with the usual signature of crunchy Lopez acidity. This is the last vintage of rosado until the 2008 vintage. It's time to stock up. cb
López de Heredia 2001 Rioja Tondonia Reserva
75% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, and 10% Graciano and Mazuelo, aged 6 years in barrel and 4 years in bottle. Rich aromas of wild cherry, rose oil, black raspberries, and toasty baking spice, with a full, silky, structured palate of cherry skins, tart cranberry, plump ripe strawberries, wild nettles, sweet tobacco, black tea, orange rind, and warm, woodsy earth. Generous and satisfying in its present youthful stage and an exciting candidate for long-term cellaring. AR
López de Heredia 2003 Rioja Bosconia Reserva
The 2003 vintage of Bosconia Reserva is my favorite since the fantastically silky 2000 vintage. It is broad-shouldered as you would expect, but, at the same time, it is precise, juicy elegant, and surprisingly graceful. I don't get a whiff of roasted-ness from this cuvée. A miracle has been born; an amazing '03. cb
La Rioja Alta 2001 Rioja Ardanza Reserva Especial
Vina Ardanza is named after one of the founding partners of La Rioja Alta; aged for 36 months in used American oak barrels, with about 20% Garnacha. While the aging regime for Ardanza qualifies it as a Gran Reserva, it is labeled as Reserva; 2001 was only the 3rd vintage to be designated ‘Reserva Especial’.
