Fourrier 2013 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Combes aux Moines
.87 hectares dating from 1928. Located north of Champeaux and Les St. Jacques. A warm climat that ripens consistently; a touch backwards in its youth, with time in the cellar gains depth and sophistication.
Fourrier 2015 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Goulots
From vines planted in 1966 by Champeaux and Combe Aux Moines. Fourrier made some truly beautiful wines in 2015 handling the ripeness and power deftly. This should age effortlessly.
Fourrier 2017 Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
In the past ten or so years, the wines of Jean-Marie Fourrier have gone from one of the best-kept secrets in Burgundy to one of the best-known quantities. These are wines of almost heartbreaking delicacy, brimming with fragile pure red fruit and spice. The viticulture here is first rate and the use of new oak is fabulously restrained, notable in a village where it is often applied lavishly. The Gevrey Chambertin "Vieilles Vignes" is sourced from three parcels, largely planted between 1955 and 1928. Year in and out, this is one of the best village-level wines made anywhere.
Trapet 1998 Chapelle Chambertin Grand Cru
Rich, full, lots of Chambertin oyster shell character to the limestone-y nose and some tannin, very good fruit — this wine came from a very cold cellar and the corks show this — there is no evidence of staining along the cork. This is a great bottle of mature Grand Cru Burgundy from a very good but often overlooked vintage.
