Pinot Noir grown in Chassagne-Montrachet, fermented with native yeast, aged in partially in tank, partially in barrel. Red fruit on the nose, strawberry, raspberry, hint of spice, with hints of soil notes emerging with air. On the the mid-weight palate are flavors of bright red berries, tangy acidity, and savory back notes on a medium length, sapid finish. This has fine tension between soil and fruit and is a lovely Bourgogne rouge offering the charm and purity of fruit characteristic of the 2013. Should be a nice pairing with roasted chicken, pan-roasted wild salmon, or pasta with with wild mushrooms. Enjoy now and over the next 3-5 years. John McIlwain
What a pleasure to taste a 2003 that still tastes as it should! None of the burned, over-ripe-but-still-raw flavors that afflict so many '03 whites, but pure Chablis mineral and green apple fruit. We have high expecations of the masters of Chablis, and they don't disappoint. JW
