The former owners of these wines are a couple, both distinguished scientists who are also well-travelled gourmands. For some years he was leader of a group of like-minded wine and food lovers which he and his wife loved, as it offered many opportunities to widen their acquaintance with the great wines of the world in congenial company. Now happily retired, they are not so thrilled that health obliges them to part with the remainder of their cellar, but I think they are pleased at the prospect that our customers will have the chance to share in some of their treasured bottles. More selections from the cellar will follow soon. Jamie Wolff
NB: per the photos, many labels are (as the auctioneers say) "bin-soiled".
Leoville Las Cases 1983 St Julien
This is the greatest chateau in Saint Julien, it is located right next to Chateau Latour. There is a little creek that runs between the two properties, one side is in Saint Julien and the other side is Pauillac. This is a very rich mature bottle of Bordeaux and it is drinking great now. It is made from approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. A great 1983 and a great Leoville las Cases.
