Gonnet (P. Jambon) 2009 Chiroubles Une Tranche
This beautiful Beaujolais was selected by Philippe Jambon - it comes from a steep plot of old vines owned by F & H Gonnet in Chiroubles, farmed organically. Vinified without added SO2 (total SO2 is 7 mg/liter), 12.5 % alcohol. Complex aromas of blackberry and cherry liqueur with floral hints, blood orange and spice. The palate is deep and round but with very good lifting acids, particularly for a 2009. Lingering dark fruits on the long finish. This is very "gouleyant" Beaujolais, supple, yummy and easy drinking but with enough structure to drink well for another 5 to 8 years. Highly recommended and only available in the US at Chambers Street. Store in a cool place.
