Eyrie Vineyards 2010 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 'Estate'
Eyrie is credited with being the first grower of Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley, and really proved that Pinot Noir could be successfully grown in America. This is the basic estate bottling that only spends time in neutral oak, and is known for more forward fruit-driven flavors. Even so, we found this Pinot to have lots of savory dark plum character, and a deep sense of minerality. This is a classically made wine from an estate that never uses pesticides or irrigation, and is committed to a light-handed style in the winery. The result is a wine that is very at home with a variety of foods, and especially your holiday meals this year. JR
