So far we’ve declared this to be the “Summer of Champagne” and the “Summer of Nusserhof”, (around here it’s always the “Summer of Muscadet”, even in November), and Chris Barnes is making the case that it should also be the “Summer of Garnacha”, based on the great wines that just came in from Bodegas Marañones in Madrid. We’re quite happy to pay tribute and to participate in the original event, Paul Grieco’s “Summer of Riesling.” We’ll have a great selection of wines open this Saturday, July 21, from 4 to 7 pm, mostly from Germany but with a token Austrian wine as well. We’ll be joined by Gabriel Clary from Terry Theise Selections who will pour some of our favorite wines, including exciting stuff from Adam, Dönnhoff, Schaefer and Schmitt-Wagner.
Additionally, in honor of the unveiling of his new, encyclopedic guide to the Wines of the Mosel, http://www.larscarlberg.com/, we'll be opening some outstanding wines from Lars Carlberg Selections for you to enjoy. There may also be some fun surprises, so we look forward to seeing you on Saturday! -jfr
